Muscogee County, Georgia Marriages. Muscogee County was organized from Creek Indian Lands on Dec. 11, 1826.

Staff members used microfilmed copies of the original Muscogee County Marriage Records 1845-1878 to create this database. Because no complete index existed for all of the individual volumes and no index exist for the records as a whole, staff began keying the data from each record into a database. The advantages of the database over the current microfilmed records are that of access through the Internet at home and that it can be searched in a variety of ways. To obtain a copy of the actual record, the microfilm will have to be consulted.
In creating the database, staff members copied the entries exactly as they were written in each volume, interpreting the handwriting to the best of their ability. If a staff member was unable to determine the spelling of an entry, a question mark (?) was added to indicate that the name/spelling was uncertain. Searchable Fields include: Bride Surname, Groom Surname, Bride First Name, and Groom First Name.When a search retrieves a name from the database, an abstract of the records will be displayed. Information includes: Bride and Groom Surname, Bride and Groom First name, Date of recording, page and Book.
